Transport Links

The property is located in a modern residential development on the edge of the attractive and popular town Thaxted, located approximately 6 miles to the north of Great Dunmow. The rural town of Thaxted is just over five and a half miles from Elsenham station, which has regular and direct trains to London Liverpool Street.

The train journey into the capital takes just under an hour. For commuters travelling further afield, Stansted Airport is just over six and half miles away. The area’s illustrious history, beautiful architecture and striking landmarks set Thaxted apart from other Essex towns.

Thaxted is a small country town with a recorded history which dates back to before the Domesday Book. Yet although the town is full of considerable architectural interest, its attraction as a place to visit arises just as much from the special character of the town as a community.

Thaxted has no artificial tourist attractions; it remains today what is has been for the last ten centuries - a thriving town which moves with the times, but also treats its heritage from the past with great respect. The past and the present come together in Thaxted as part of the daily life of everyone in the town.

Thaxted is also the location for the Thaxted Morris, the oldest revival Morris dancing group in England that was established in 1911. The area is also home to a range of notable landmarks including the parish church of St John, which stands on a hill overlooking the town built between 1340 and 1510. The church is renowned for its flying buttressed spire, which is 181 feet tall and the only medieval stone spire in the county.
